“I've had a love affair with music for as long as I can remember,” enthuses Adam
Smeaton, professionally known as Dubkiller. The genre-defying artist, writer,
and producer who fuses styles and pushes conventional musical boundaries all
while working with some of today’s biggest names. “Adhering to preconceived
notions of what genres should be and what categories songs should be in is a
surefire way to kill creativity and originality,” he remarks. “I make music the
way I want it to sound.”
After being in a few different bands and having a number of close calls with
rock stardom, Dubkiller began to realize that his calling wasn't behind a drum
set. Instead, it was behind a laptop. Ever since that discovery, he’s been
making fresh and inspired pop music, and hasn’t looked back.
As a solo artist, Dubkiller has had several chart-topping releases on Beatport.
His songs have also been featured in numerous films and TV shows, including
“Breaking Bad,” and placements with Disney and the Coca Cola company.
In 2011, Dubkiller signed with acclaimed writing and production team Rock Mafia.
Since then, some of the artists he has written, produced, and remixed for
include Selena Gomez (on her last three albums), Britney Spears, Miley Cyrus,
Demi Lovato, Sick Puppies, Static Revenger, Jesse McCartney, and Tokio Hotel.
“I love the creative process, sitting in a room with two or three other
songwriters and creating something out of nothing,” Dubkiller says of his
collaborations. But whether he’s working alone or with the biggest names in the
industry, his focus remains the same. “I’m always on a journey to be inspired,
and to create that next hit song that makes people feel something.”
